Loves,
Does time fly by or what?
Two years ago, I married my wife. It was the perfect day on August 17, 2024 – 888 – lucky numbers.
To celebrate our love, we went to the Sunshine Coast, in British Columbia, Canada. Neither of us had ever been, and we were excited to see this stunning coastline.
We were up early, and headed to the ferry, where it was a quick boat around Bowen and Keats Island, and into Langdale. We spent the morning and afternoon walking around Gibson’s quaint coastal community. What a lovely little town clinging to the hillside overlooking the deep blue ocean of Shoal Channel. We checked out the art at the Gibson’s Public Art Gallery, looked at antiques in an old, old house with creaky wooden floors, and window shopped at boutique shops. I love traveling with my wife. We enjoy a good adventure, and we found our way down to the walkway along the water and by the marina, where we picked blackberries, and marveled at all of the house boats. The sun was brilliant, the seagulls cried overhead, and the air was scented with salt and seaweed.
Later in the afternoon we drove over to Robert’s Creek where we rented an Air BnB cottage for two nights. Hippie Paradise! We hung out at the community hall at their flea market, went into the sweetest town centre with shops, a library, a community garden, and Gumboot Café (the BEST chai). We left our car and walked down to the ocean where there was a huge community mural and then walked out onto Robert’s Creek Pier. The tide was out and people were walking the beach and swimming in the ocean, and the sun was a massive ball of light. After settling into our cottage and eating a homemade steak dinner, we walked the unlit roads down to a secret cove only the locals know of. We sat on a log and watched the giant orange ball of the sun set below the horizon while we skipped rocks across the water. That was only our first day!
On our second day we drove to Sechelt and again walked about the little shops, and I even got a fifteen-minute channeled reading. My future is BRIGHT! Then my wife and I decided to drive the Sunshine Coast Highway all the way to the end of the road. There were deep forests, and peaky views from rocky crags, and all of the sail boats and speed boats cruising on by. When we made it to the end we headed back and stopped in at Secret Cove, (not so secret) and took a walk to Smugglers Cove, (I can see why they named it that) and even saw Half Moon Bay, (yes, it looks like a half moon).
We spent our last day at Porpoise Bay with its sandy beach, smooth water, and tons of families frolicking in the ocean. I swam around like a seal so happy in the calm, clear, and well, frigid water. We were so blissed out under the sunny rays that we got a sunburn (we’re all healed now).
What a gorgeous trip honoring our sacred marriage and the love that grows between us.
Cheers to love!
