Movement

Nov 1, 2022

Hello Loves,

This Aries would have gone nuts by now if hadn’t moved my body.

My number one stress reliever, trauma healer, anxiety cure is movement. I love moving my body. I need to move my body. If I don’t move my body, my energy either gets stagnant and sluggish and I don’t do a damn thing in life or it builds up and explodes.

Movement is essential for my happiness. I bet it’s yours as well.

Movement can be anything! I wake up every morning and practice yoga. Every morning. Okay I just started a month ago but still it counts, right? I literally make myself put on exercise clothes and roll out my mat. It feels like a chore. But about seven poses in I feel fucking fantastic. I notice I’ve become more flexible and strong and calm. I love the ritual of it. And I love the way it makes me feel.

Sometimes I put on my headphones and dance around my living room to pop music with the volume on ten. I’m a grown up, sort of, so I get to do that. I dance wildly. Like I’m in a mosh pit. Or slowly, like I’m a cool cat. But mostly wild and free. Uninhibited. I swing my hips in circles. I wiggle my shoulders. I stretch my arms to the sky. It’s glorious.

I really love going for walks. It can be boiling hot or freezing cold or rainy. It can be in my neighborhood on the hill, or down by the river, or through a field or forest. Even the city is a fun place to walk. I love taking photos while I’m out and about. I love witnessing humans, and animals, and all things large or small on this planet. I love the present moment and what it holds, which is always a surprise.

Swimming in the ocean or a lake or a river, or heck, any body of clean water is so awesome. Don’t you just always feel like a mermaid? I love the fluidity of my body in water. The way I can float and be still or swing my arms through it and propel myself anywhere. I think I was a fish in my past life. I really love water and swimming. I just started a cold water collective to go dipping through the winter. It’s so healing.

How about wrestling? Oh my. I am the champion at wrestling. I have vice-grip thighs, excellent balance, and a short, stocky body. You’re going down! Wrestling is such a rush. You need to be confident, and strong, and a bit of a trickster. I’ve been thinking lately that I might take up Jiu Jitsu. Wouldn’t that be so fun? Yes, I think so. I’m going to do it.

Or how about ice skating? Or tobogganing? Or skiing? Or snowboarding? Or snow shoeing? I love, love all of these. Or how about horseshoes? Or badminton? Or soccer? Or football? Or hockey? Or baseball? I just had the best season whacking that ball out into the field.

Okay, you get the point. Movement is so good for you – body, mind, and spirit.

Go on, go move your body.
