March Reflections

Mar 31, 2023

Hello Loves,

March is the month of money autonomy for me.

The definition of autonomy in the Merriam-Webster dictionary is to be self-governed. To have self-directing freedom and especially moral independence. I really like the sound of that.

For the longest time I’ve wanted to understand money on the physical plane, but also the spiritual plane. I’ve always dreamed of being a financial wizard. After my divorce I was liberated into making my own decisions. There was no partner to voice their opinion. It was all up to me now. That was scary.

My money liberation felt vast and daunting. What if I made a mistake with the savings I had? Spoiler alert – I did, but nothing too serious. The first way I coped with my new found sovereignty was with mantras. I know . . . this sounds hokey, but I was able to change my poverty mentality and scarcity thinking by saying money mantras to myself. They brought feelings of relief, clarity and strength. They made me feel good!

Here’s a few I used by Louise Hay:

I am a magnet for money. Money flows to me easily. I am abundant. My income is constantly increasing. I prosper wherever I turn. I am open and receptive to all the good and abundance in the Universe. Thank you life. Prosperity of every kind is drawn to me. I think big and then I allow myself to accept even more good in life. Money comes to me in expected and unexpected ways. I have unlimited choices. Opportunities are everywhere. I radiate success and prosper wherever I turn. I deserve the best and accept the best now. I am grateful.

I would walk around in life and chant these money mantras in my head and sometimes even out loud. Ha!

I went to the library and took out a pile of books on money, like the classics – Rich Dad Poor Dad, Think and Grow Rich, Your Money or Your life, The Wealthy Barber, and I listened to money podcasts such as – So Money, The Mel Robbins Podcast, Abraham Hicks, and The School of Greatness.

Then I created a gratitude journal. What does gratitude have to do with money literacy? It helps keep you aware of what you do have. Writing down what you are grateful for everyday helps you keep track of your abundance. It’s a great tool for when your money fears creep up.

And I paid off all of my debt. All of it. I used a chunk of my savings, which was nerve-wracking, but I am debt free.

Next I took a risk and spent money to make money. I updated my website and created three new businesses that I’d envisioned for a long time – Soul Path Readings, Intuitive Coaching, and Photo Prints. My new side hustles have brought my dreams to fruition, and have created so much joy and excitement in doing what I love.

And I hired my first tax accountant . . . ever! And it was the first time I claimed expenses for my writing career and side businesses ever! And the first time I ever invested my savings instead of letting it sit in my savings account.

Each day I become a little bit wiser around money.

Each day I take back control of my future.

Each day I grow in my awareness and gratitude for all that I have.
