My Daily Commitment to My Book of Kindness

Feb 28, 2026

Loves,

Recently I’ve been having some BIG skirmishes in life.

I’ve been dealing with home disruptions, legal challenges, book edits, poor sleep, injury, lack of movement, questioning friendships, boredom, and an overall feeling of blah.

Luckily, I’m a seasoned learner at Earth School. When I realized that I’d gone down Pity Party Lane, I most certainly did a U-turn. No need to hang out on that cul-de-sac.

My usual go to is morning journaling and meditation. I wake up before my wife, sit on the couch, and free flow write in my journal. I’m amazed with how much detritus there is in my brain upon waking – vivid dreams, to do lists, pop songs, current worries, past scenarios, memories, inspirations, ideas. When I’ve written myself dry, I put on Insight Timer, choose a meditation, and sit. Just be.

My daughter gifted me a beautiful, handmade leather journal for Christmas that she’d pick up on a trip to Spain. I wanted to use it for something extra special. I titled the first page – Book of Kindness.
I decided that I was going to write down the kindnesses that were given to me or that I had given to others. This would keep me in alignment with what was truly going on in my life. Not just the hurdles but the insane beauty and magic and miracles of living.

Here are some of my entries:
January 16, 2026: Two women at yoga helped me carry the heavy equipment after I told them I hurt my back. At the bank, a kind women held the door open for me.

January 18, 2026: Made my wife breakfast in bed. Asked for a sign, found a dime. Saw two eagles and three hawks. A white fluffy dog smiled at me. An actual smile. I got $7 dollars off a $15 sale Tee.

January 22, 2026: A flock of crows visited me and I see 1111 every day.
January 24, 2026: I gave myself the most powerful I Ching reading – Success & Awakening. I started the puzzle my daughter gifted me for Christmas.
January 26, 2026: Saw a sticker on a car that said – Don’t worry be hippie. Then I saw a smiley face painted on a bench.
January 27, 2026: Out for a walk I found two hand-painted rocks that said – I choose joy! And I choose love!
January 28, 2026: Took my wife to a café to honor her mom’s passing day. Bought her a mocha and lemon loaf, her mom’s favorite. I saw a sticker that said – Live Life Happy. A woman at choir brought us cupcakes with hearts on them.
January 29, 2026: I walked under a cedar tree and her soft boughs touched the top of my head like a blessing.

February 24, 2026: I found a geocache box hidden in a tree. It had an orchid clip treasure. I returned the box and put a crystal inside. My boss at the Youth Centre congratulated me on my successful writing workshop.
February 28, 2026: Sat on a grassy hill in the sunshine overlooking the valley and mountains reading and snacking. Met sweet friends out for a tea date.
